Deena Wilson has spent her career addressing issues of equal employment opportunity and inclusion for both the State of California and Federal Governments. As a consultant, dispute resolution manager, trainer and analyst, she has over 33 years of experience bringing real solutions to improve workplace diversity and inclusion. Deena served the State of California for 12 years as the Equal Employment and Dispute Resolution Manager, overseeing outreach and recruitment, managing the state’s discrimination dispute resolution program and developing diversity initiatives to educate executives and line staff in best employment practices.

Deena also has considerable experience as an in-house consultant to executives on trends in discriminatory hiring practices, developing training solutions to address systemic issues at the Bureau of Land Management of the U.S. Department of the Interior. Deena has been on the front lines of the push for greater awareness of systemic discrimination and the importance of diversity & inclusion in the workplace. She served as Complaints Manager for an agency- wide discrimination program overseeing the dispute process from intake to resolution.

This first hand experienced has informed her research documenting discriminatory hiring trends. She has used this information as the basis for the creation and delivery of training to EEO practitioners, addressing knowledge and skills gaps, imparting best practices, and ensuring compliance with state and Federal employment regulations.

Deena is a graduate of California State University, Sacramento (CSUS), where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice (1980) and a Master’s Degree in Public Administration in 1987. She has served as a guest lecturer in Leadership at CSUS and at Touro University in Vallejo, CA; and a speaker at various women’s conferences.
