OVERVIEW

Matthew is a strategist, change leader, and idea generator. For over a decade, his work has been focused on helping organizations and communities think strategically and plan for a better future. Matthew’s consulting approach leverages strong engagement and facilitation skills, an innovation mindset, keen attention to change management, and a commitment to equitable outcomes. His nonprofit clients have included arts organizations, foundations, educational organizations, community service providers, social service providers, and housing providers.

APPROACH

Matthew approaches his work for organizations holistically, considering such factors as brand alignment, strategic planning, risk assessment, budget development and management, and inter- and intra-firm communications.  His expertise as a marketer ensures that he is continually considering the communications challenges associated with organizational change and creating strategies to maximize buy-in among stakeholders.

 

BACKGROUND & CREDENTIALS

Leveraging his passion for travel, Matthew also is the founding Principal at Whereabout. This work focuses on helping destinations think strategically about their organization and visitor economy. In addition to his client work, he’s served on the U.S. Travel Board of Directors and has been invited to speak at national and state tourism conferences throughout the U.S. on topics such as destination resilience, destination strategy, and regional collaboration between destination organizations.

Matthew is currently serving as a Board member for the Regional Arts & Culture Council and as a volunteer at Arts Mentorship Program (AMP), a drop-in arts program serving youth experiencing homelessness in Portland, OR. Matt holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Fine Arts/Education from Nebraska Wesleyan University.
