Building Trust & Collaboration: Transforming Leadership

KBR

CHALLENGE

KBR’s General Counsel’s office had a new leadership team and a number of new senior level hires in the GC’s office. The General Counsel wanted to build them into a high-performing team of collaborators capable of providing strategic visioning and leadership, in addition to strong management.

APPROACH

  • A comprehensive program of team and individual coaching to establish shared values and ways of working with one another grounded in the Lencioni Model and psychometric assessments to establish benchmarks for understanding each other as individuals and what strengths each brought to the team.
  • Explored how these individuals might learn to trust one another and engage in a constructive and professional manner, leveraging their respective strengths and relying on each other for cross-functional collaboration and support.
  • Guided leaders through key learnings, including how to engage in healthy conflict around ideas that is constructive and moves the organization forward.

IMPACT

Armed with tools for understanding and action, the General Counsel’s team established trusted relationships that allowed for greater collaboration and cooperation. Additionally, the GC was able to identify with precision future leaders as she embarked upon a succession planning initiative. THEC continues to support those efforts.
