Barbara Hendricks is a respected human resources executive with extensive experience leading human resources operations in large health care organizations. performance improvement projects, and talent management initiatives. Barbara Hendricks demonstrated repeated success guiding large, cross-functional teams in the design, redesign, and launch of leading-edge business solutions driving greater efficiency, engagement and revenue.

An expert presenter and negotiator, Barbara forges solid relationships with strategic partners and builds consensus across multiple organizational levels. Barbara is also an experienced platform trainer, having done group facilitation using experiential methods for multidisciplinary groups, departments, mid-level and senior leaders from across industries. 

A respected HR strategist and tactician, Barbara has led numerous strategic initiatives in large health care organizations, and has had primary responsibility for the integration of disparate facilities under one corporate umbrella. As the Vice President for Human Resources for Nanticoke Health Services, Barbara provided executive-level HR leadership with full P&L $17M budget accountability for all activities, including hospital, urgent care centers, 16 physician’s officers and a long-term care facility. Barbara transformed the HR department there to be more customer focused and was a leader for HR strategic and organizational system-wide initiatives. She has advised boards on executive compensation strategies, and has led the selection and implementation of HRMS systems. Barbara’s work led to Nanticoke being named as a “Best Place to work” by Becker’s Review, and as a “Fit Friendly” worksite by the American Heart Association.
At Unity Health Care, Barbara led a six-member team delivering full-scale HR services to 23 Federal qualified health centers in the District of Columbia. Barbara was charged with unifying 1500 employees in a rapidly growing organization. She developed a master plan to unify employees in multiple clinics and diverse locations by establishing a multi-pronged communications and change strategy to deepen engagement. She took open enrollment “on the road” to create multiple and consistent touch points with employees. In addition, Barbara reduced payroll administration by two days, reducing payroll costs by converting an outdated payroll system to a state of the art HRIS, automating the checks and balances process between HR and Payroll.

Barbara is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives (Regent for Delaware, Mentor and Diversity Panel Facilitator), the American Society of Healthcare Human Resources Administration (Mentor), the Association for Talent Development, and the Baldridge Program (National Board of Examiners). She is also on the HR Committee of the Board of Coastal Hospice.

Barbara has Master’s Degrees in Leadership (Capella University), and Human Resources Management and Development (Marymount University), as well as an MBA (Strayer University).  She is also certified as a DISC instructor, Coach and has senior SHRM certifications, SPHR and SHRM-SCP.
